Free Flu Shots for State Employees and Retirees
Over the next several weeks, the Department of Healthcare and Family Services will be providing free flu immunizations to State of Illinois employees and retirees enrolled in either the Quality Care Health Plan or a State-sponsored managed care plan. Dates and times are subject to change, so check schedule periodically.
To receive the vaccination at no charge:
- Employees must present their state health insurance card and their State ID card
- Retirees must present their state health insurance card and another form of ID
NOTE: Dependents, spouses, contractual workers, consultants, students, as well as employees who have opted out of health insurance coverage through the state are NOT eligible for the free flu shot through this program.

In addition, many county health departments have partnered with the State and also are providing flu shots at no charge to eligible State of Illinois employees. Individuals interested in obtaining a flu shot from a health department should contact the appropriate county health department directly to learn the dates and times the shots are scheduled to be administered.
