State of Illinois Travel Charge Card
The Governor's Travel Control Board has an agreement with Bank of America to provide charge card services for traveling State of Illinois employees. Employees who travel and/or use direct billing at least four times per year should apply for a State of Illinois Bank of America Travel Charge Card. The Bank of America Travel Charge Card is only to be used to charge business travel related expenses. Employees wishing to apply for a Bank of America Travel charge card should contact their agency travel coordinator.
Bank of America offers travelers:
- No annual fee
- No interest for 65 days and a flat 1% of the total balance per month after that time
- $500,000 worldwide automatic travel accident insurance
- Dedicated customer service 24 hours a day
- Assured reservations

Accounts are established for individual travelers in which the individual is responsible for payment. Agencies can request permission from the Governor's Travel Control Board to establish a Corporate Travel System Account (i.e. ghost or centrally billed account) to pay for air and rail charges. Payments for this type of account are the responsibility of the agency.
The Bank of America Travel Card Program is designed to help control travel expenditures, reduce costs, and to provide useful data that enhances the State’s ability to negotiate travel discounts. The Governor's Travel Control Board strongly encourages the use of the Bank of America Travel card for all business travel expenses.
